About Jen Collins Daly

I have worked on staff and as a consultant for nonprofit organizations, both small and large, particularly in the arts and education sectors. Having served in development offices and on program teams, I know what it takes to create and deliver an effective program, and I understand how to secure resources to do it.

My personal mission is to work for all people’s access to meaningful and equitable learning, supporting their full and active participation in the life of their community. I bring my skills in writing and project management to the table, so that creative educators can share their talents with learners who need them.

As a core staff member at Youth in Arts, an arts education nonprofit in San Rafael, California, I served as the written “voice” of the organization, producing grant proposals, reports, board materials, web copy and newsletters, feature articles and op eds. I helped create YIA Gallery as a space dedicated to showing work by young artists and providing interpretive programs for families. YIA Gallery went on to become an anchor for the Downtown San Rafael Cultural Arts District, one of the first such districts recognized by the state of California. I also produced a wide range of events for Youth in Arts, from educational theatrical performances, to gallery tours and workshops, to major donor events.

I operated a major statewide literary arts education program–Poetry Out Loud–for the California Arts Council for multiple years, and worked previously on staff at the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts and the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy.

I received my undergraduate degree from Stanford University before pursuing a MA in Museum Studies/Public Programming from John F. Kennedy University. I believe that we are all lifelong learners, and that art and creativity impact us both individually and collectively, as community members. I volunteer as a writing mentor for young people in my East San Francisco Bay Area community, and I have previously chaired my city’s Arts Committee. I also volunteer in voting rights and voter protection efforts. I have two grown sons out in the world and one very small dog at home.
